Family gatherings, Christmas, snow and cosy moments all contribute to the magic and charm of winter. Yet winter is not only about idyllic photographs of snow-covered landscapes. It can also be a season of rain, floods, strong winds, extreme cold and challenging weather conditions. The aim of this contest is to encourage artists to capture and share their most characteristic and personal visions of winter. As time moves forward, the buildings of the past are left behind – silent sentinels of history, empty and forgotten. These structures, once vibrant with life, now stand as poignant reminders of a time when life was different, narrating their stories only to those who have the patience or curiosity to listen. Their presence contributes to our understanding of the past, inviting reflection on the lives, choices, and moments that shaped them. They offer glimpses into a bygone era, teaching us how much things have changed. We are interested in seeing such abandoned buildings from different parts of the world, each telling its own story. Best Portfolio 2027 Calling for submissions Deadline: Sunday May 31, 2027 Blank Wall Gallery organizes an international portfolio contest for 2027 in order to discover and promote one photographer. The award of the best photographer will be a two-week solo exhibition at the new premises of Blank Wall Gallery. The gallery will produce and finance 40 prints (40x50cm and 50x70cm) for the exhibition as well as everything needed for its realization, even if you cannot attend it. The artist will gain international recognition and promotion from our web page.
